Sytse Buwalda honored with prestigious Cuban musicaward

On friday october 12th is countertenor Sytse Buwalda, in presence of the Dutch ambassador, Norbert Braakhuis, honoured with the 'Premio de Honor Cubadisco 2012', in Havanna, Cuba.

The award for all of his work, comparible with de Dutch Edison, was awarded by the legendary Cuban composer, guitarist and conductorwerd Leo Brouwer. Sytse Buwalda is the first Dutch artist who may recieve this award. Other winners are, amongst others, Sting and Eliades Ochoa.

Asteria Ensemble
The Asteria Ensemble, consisting of altus Sytse Buwalda, mandolinist Ferdinand Binnendijk and guitarist Saskia Spinder, was on Cuba for several concerts during the Festival Leo Brouwer musicá de cámera and a concert on the Dutch ambassy. Other participants on the festival where, among others, Katia and Marielle Labèque and lutenist Edin Karamazov. 


Debute CD Asteria Ensemble

After their succesful international debut on the Leo Brouwer Festival Musicá de Camerá on Cuba and the following Dutch tour, The Asteria Ensemble recorded it first CD.

Special about these recordings is that there are several pieces that are specially composed for the ensemble. You can hear the worldpremiere of the 'Hesse Lieder', composed by the awarded Greek/American composer Viktor Kioulaphides, and the Canciones Amatorias from the legendary Cuban gitarist and composer Leo Brouwer. Besides that, Sytse sings the well-known Siete canciones populares Españolas by Manuel de Falla, in a arrangement of Saskia Spinder.

Release is planned in februari 2013
